%X Tectona grandis is a species of high commercial value, due to its anatomical characteristics and high market demand. Its cultivation has shown to be promising in reforestation in Brazil, due to favorable edaphoclimatic conditions. In view of the above, this work has the objective of analyzing the potentialities of the LISS3 sensor aboard the ResourceSat-2 satellite in the mapping and monitoring of Tectona grandis areas. The study area comprises the Tectona grandis plantation located on Highway MT 208 in the municipality of Alta Floresta, between coordinates 9 ° 57''32.50 S and 56 ° 51''49.70 W. For the accomplishment of this study, The acquisition of the images of the satellite ResourceSat-2, sensor LISS3. For the true color composition in the ArcGis software, a false blue band was generated, for each image, after the composition in true color, the mosaic of the images was generated, and of this mosaic cut the limit in the city. The classification was performed using the MaxVer method. The estimated planting area for the study site is 1046.78 ha. The heterogeneity of the planting and the inherent characteristics of the species can make it difficult to separate the classes by the classifier. According to the data presented, the LISS 3 sensor presented good detection results and teak plantations, and can be used in monitored reforested areas, taking into account the phenological aspects of the species.
